Character Response #1 5/4 - 5/9

Grandmother is emotionless and does not like to involve herself with what is going on around her.
Mother seems strong, but on the inside is very scared and wants to protect her kids.
Main character is very aware of what is going to happen to his family. He is frustrated with his so called friends because they are discriminating towards him because of what his country did.

  1. I like and agree with how you described mother, and the main character, I think you were spot on with those two. But I think the grandmother is a very emotional person but that she tries to either ignore her feelings or keep them in check. She kind of tries to make everything normal and won't express any of her feelings.

  4. I disagree with the part about grandmother as she shows contempt towards the government and she always is complaining about things

  5. Were there really only four characters discussed in the first section of the book? Do you find these characters to be well developed? Are they round or flat? Why do you think so. Your response seems incomplete.
